Article-processing charges
Authors should pay the fee within 14 days from receiving the information via the Editorial System about the acceptance of the article for publication. If we do not receive the payment within 21 days after the acceptance of the article for publication, the manuscript will be removed from the list qualified for publication until the payment is made.
All wire transfer costs are to be covered by the authors – the amount of money must be the exact amount received by the Wroclaw Medical University, not reduced by the costs of the transfer. We do not accept payments by credit cards – wire transfer is the only option available.
The fee applies only to the cost of preparing/developing the article for publication in the journal. The fee has no effect on the acceptance of the article for publication. All articles submitted via the Editorial System are reviewed by independent experts outside the Editorial Office and based on their opinions are qualified or not for publication. Please be informed that if the author decides not to publish the paper, which has been already accepted and paid, the fee paid will not be returned for reasons beyond the Publisher’s control.
The publication fee for manuscripts submitted since March 1, 2024 is:
1600 EUR / 6900 PLN for all types of papers
Please note that Polish entities are allowed to pay the APC in PLN only.
We DO NOT charge publication fees for invited editorial and editorial commentaries.
The publication fee for manuscripts submitted until January 31, 2023 is:
700 EUR / 3500 PLN for original papers, meta-analyses and reviews
350 EUR / 1750 PLN for research-in-progress (RIP) papers and research letters
The publication fee for manuscripts submitted until February 29, 2024 is:
990 EUR / 4900 PLN for original papers and meta-analyses
700 EUR / 3500 PLN for reviews
350 EUR / 1750 PLN for research-in-progress (RIP) papers and research letters
Optional services
There are also additional fees for the following optional services (if ordered by the Authors of the manuscript accepted for publication):
- 200 EUR / 880 PLN for linguistic editing;
- 200 EUR / 880 PLN for technical editing.
Services offered
Linguistic editing ensures that the English language of your manuscript is of the academic standard required for publication in our journal. It comprises correcting grammar, punctuation and spelling errors, pointing to inconsistencies, as well as removing or reformulating awkward or ambiguous sentences, while keeping, where possible, your voice and choice of words. We also suggest discipline-specific terms. In the proof sent to you, all our comments and doubts are clearly marked, so that you could make the necessary corrections.
Technical editing ensures that the structure of your manuscript follows the Adv Clin Exp Med house style. We reformat references (both in the text and the whole reference list) and look for missing information in the reference section. We improve the overall presentation by revising titles/subtitles, font, spacing, text alignment, and paragraph structure. We also edit equations and tables, and produce publication-ready figures that clearly communicate your research to readers. Figure editing enhances your charts and graphs, as well as graphical abstracts; it comprises revising the text included, colors, shading, border, size, resolution, and file type.
You can choose either or both of the abovementioned optional services, or decline them. When submitting the manuscript to Adv Clin Exp Med via the Editorial System, you will be provided with special checkboxes to select if needed. Following the acceptance of your article for publication, you will be asked to pay the basic APC and the additional fees for the chosen editing services.
Please be informed that the articles finally published in Adv Clin Exp Med must comply with the high standards of the journal.

Incentive for the employees of Wroclaw Medical University
Papers authored solely by employees of Wroclaw Medical University (WMU) are exempt from the fee. If the manuscript has been written jointly by the employees of WMU and authors from other institutions, the fee is lowered proportionally to the number of UMW employees among all authors, and is paid only by authors who are not UMW employees (e.g., if 2 out of 6 authors are UMW employees, the fee is lowered by ⅓ and amounts to 1066 EUR / 4600 PLN).
Incentive for our Reviewers
Since January 1, 2021, our Reviewers receive 5 points for each review prepared for our journal.
A total of 20 points* allows them to publish an article in Advances in Clinical and Experimental Medicine free of charge.
*points are valid for 2 years counting from January 1 of the year in which the were awarded.

APC waiver
Authors can apply for an APC waiver to the editorial office – the Editor-in-Chief may decide to lower or waiver the APC. Applications in the form of a scanned document signed by all co-author of a given manuscript should be sent to Managing Editor [marek.misiak@umw.edu.pl] and describe a reason for the proposed waiver. Please note that international sanctions imposed on a country are not a valid reason.
APC waiver does not concern special editorial services (linguistic and technical editing) – the authors can still choose one or both of these services.
Additional information
The sole source of financing for publishing Advances in Clinical and Experimental Medicine comes from institutional support from its owner, Wroclaw Medical University, provided through the body managing the journal – Wroclaw Medical University Press. Neither subscriptions (ACEM is an open access journal) nor paid advertising is practiced – neither Wroclaw Medical University Press nor journal itself undertake any business activity. Publication fee is required only from manuscripts submitted to the Editorial Office as of February 8, 2017.
